Try as he might, Jabrill Peppers can contain his confidence for only so long.
Tell him his Michigan coach, Jim Harbaugh, said he likely will play on offense and possibly special teams, in addition to safety, and he’ll shrug it off.
“I actually haven’t heard anything about that,” he said. “I just know what they tell me. I just want to do what is best for the team, what will help the team.”
Given Harbaugh’s reticence to share information, his endorsement of Peppers’ versatility is close to a guarantee Peppers will play more than defense.
“If they come to me and say, ‘Listen Jabrill, we need you to play offense, we need you to return kicks, we need you to play just defense,’ whatever the team needs, whatever they ask of me, whatever’s best for the team,” Peppers said.
