Ryan Hayes’ breakout adds a new variable to Michigan’s tackle situation

Ryan Hayes was one of the breakout performers of Michigan Football’s 40-21 win over Middle Tennessee state while getting the start at left tackle for Jon Runyan Jr. Head coach Jim Harbaugh told the media on Monday afternoon that Hayes graded out right up there with Cesar Ruiz and Ben Bredeson in terms of his performance and was named the team’s offensive player of the game.

The redshirt freshman got the start in relief of fifth-year senior Jon Runyan Jr., who dressed but did not play on Saturday with an injury.
