Just under two weeks ago, Belleville’s Damon Payne — No. 1-ranked high school football player in the state of Michigan — announced he’d be leaving the state for college.
The No. 3-ranked prospect just made a similar decision.
Clarkston offensive lineman Rocco Spindler, a consensus four-star recruit, announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Saturday night, picking the Fighting Irish over Michigan. His other finalists included LSU, Ohio State and Penn State.
But make no mistake, this recruitment was regarded as a battle between the Wolverines and Notre Dame. And it’s a battle that Michigan lost.
