No. 5 Michigan women's tennis sweeps Youngstown State in NCAA opener

Ann Arbor — The Michigan women’s tennis team remains unbeaten at home and has extended its match win streak to 12 after overpowering Youngstown State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Michigan, the No. 5 seed, dispatched the Penguins, 4-0, on Friday at the Varsity Tennis Center, and will face Notre Dame in the second round at 4 p.m. Saturday. The Irish advanced with a 4-0 victory over Ball State in the early match Friday. It was the first NCAA Tournament win for the Irish (16-10) since their last appearance in 2017.

The Wolverines (23-3), who swept the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles, are 9-0 at home.
