Ann Arbor — Exhibitions are supposed to be fun.

But when it comes to college football — and the annual rite of spring practice — they are not intended to be revealing.

So take what you want from the spring game Friday night at Michigan Stadium, where the Maize team held off the Blue squad, 14-13, before an estimated crowd of 40,000 that included another star-studded alumni reunion — Heisman Trophy winners Desmond Howard and Charles Woodson both were on the sidelines — and a boatload of recruits.

But just don’t take it all for granted, the way it was played, or even the way it played out, with a play to win — a last-minute touchdown followed by a two-point conversion attempt — and a goal-line stand that sent helmets flying in celebration.
