Michigan defenseman Quinn Hughes played 11 years of youth hockey in Canada while growing up in the Toronto area.
He might be playing in Canada again soon. The 5-foot-10, 173-pounder was selected No. 7 overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the NHL draft on Friday in Dallas.
"I'm thrilled right now," Hughes said in his post-draft news conference. "I didn't think I'd slip past Vancouver. If there was a spot I wanted to pick, it was Vancouver."
