Andrew Dakich thought his basketball career was over. But his father, ESPN radio and TV personality Dan Dakich, suggested he look into The Basketball Tournament (TBT). He could form his own team, get his friends to join, and take a crack at the $2 million prize.
The result is Big X, a team with a roster that now includes 10 players, including five former Wolverines.
As of Tuesday night, the team had close to 700 supporters on the tournament's website, the fifth-most in the Midwest Region. The top nine in each region get an automatic bid into TBT, which starts in July.
