Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel, who is scheduled to earn close to $1 million in 2019-2020, will have his salary reduced by 5% through the end of the year as the university looks to contain costs and mitigate the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an email message to faculty and staff that later surfaced on Reddit, president Dr. Mark Schlissel indicated Manuel's pay cut was voluntary and other top administrators, including executive officers and the chief diversity officer, would have their salaries slashed at the same rate.
