Jim Harbaugh made it clear throughout the off-season that the results in spring practice would not be the determining factor of who started at quarterback. But heading into fall camp, there was at least a slightly clearer picture than there seemed to be in the spring. Barring something unforeseen, it will be Wilton Speight or John O’Korn.
In the spring, senior Shane Morris was mentioned in the same breath with those two by the head coach, as well as passing game coordinator Jedd Fisch. And even younger players like Alex Malzone and Brandon Peters were mentioned as competing.
