ANN ARBOR -- If you're wondering why Oliver Martin was absent for much of the 2017 season, there were two factors at play.
The Michigan wide receiver arrived on campus last summer to high expectations. Here was a four-star recruit touted by the recruiting websites, including one that named Martin the No. 1 player from the state of Iowa.
All signs pointed to him potentially producing on the field. Then freshman stuff happened.
"I guess I didn't realize the offense would be so hard to grasp," Martin told reporters on Saturday, after Michigan concluded a closed scrimmage in place of its cancelled spring game.
