The third time was, indeed, the charm — for Ohio State, which followed its regular-season sweep of Michigan women's basketball with an 81-79 Big Ten tournament quarterfinals victory on Friday at Target Center in Minneapolis.

It’s the first time in program history that U-M has lost to OSU three times in a season. The Wolverines are 0-3 against the Buckeyes in the Big Ten tournament, losing to them in the 2012 quarterfinals and the 2020 semifinals.

Leigha Brown, who missed U-M’s final shot at a tie at the buzzer, led the Wolverines with 19 points while Laila Phelia, in her second game back from a lower-body injury, added 17 points in 30 minutes.
