The Michigan women’s basketball team made history on Sunday, receiving a No. 3 seed in the Wichita region of the 2022 NCAA women’s basketball tournament. It’s the highest NCAA seed in program history, following last year’s No. 6 seed, and the 10th NCAA appearance overall.
The Wolverines will host No. 14-seed American on Saturday at Crisler Center in Ann Arbor. It’s the school’s first time hosting an opening weekend in the women's tournament, which expanded to 68 teams this season. Also coming to Ann Arbor will be No. 6-seed BYU and No. 11-seed Villanova, who will also play Saturday.
