Michigan Wolverines news: A 2026 commitment flipped, a replacement target, more

Michigan football suffered a loss in the 2026 recruiting class as Ole Miss, fresh off a top-five win over LSU on Saturday, flipped four-star cornerback Dorian Barney.

The 6-foot-1 cornerback has visited other programs recently, so this isn't a huge shock. The No. 228 overall prospect in the 2026 class is out of Carrollton, Georgia. He's a solid recruit. You never want to lose a four-star commitment, but this doesn't feel like the end of the world.

Barney visited Georgia Tech last weekend. Ole Miss has been pushing as well. But the Wolverines have been pushing to flip other cornerbacks, so even with Barney in the fold, it's clear Michigan football wasn't happy with the cornerback haul.
