Michigan Stadium will have blue end zones for first time

Michigan Stadium will have blue end zones for the first time in program history for the 2018 football season.

“MICHIGAN” will remain in each end zone in maize letters, but the background will be blue. Previously, the end zone backgrounds were green, same as the regular FieldTurf color.

The new end zones are part of a total replacement of the turf in Michigan Stadium this summer.

Michigan Stadium was built in 1927 and had a natural grass surface until 1968. Artificial turf was installed ahead of the 1969 season but Michigan went back to natural grass in 1991.
