Michigan softball wins NCAA tournament opener, 2-0, with no-hitter by Meghan Beaubien

Michigan softball entered its NCAA tournament regional on Friday night in Seattle with the best pitcher in the Big Ten in Alex Storako, who won the conference’s top pitching honor Wednesday.

Turns out option No. 2 — senior Meghan Beaubien — is pretty good, too. Beaubien, who posted a 1.14 ERA in 21 starts this season and threw a no-hitter on March 11 and a five-inning perfect game on May 15, was just as dominant against Seattle University, no-hitting the Redhawks in the Wolverines’ 2-0 victory Friday. Beaubien allowed just three baserunners through the first five innings, and none in the final two.
