Michigan NBA Alumni Update: Trey Burke working his way back from MCL sprain

The backup point for the Knicks spent most of his December recovering from an MCL sprain. He scored just nine points total for the month before last Saturday’s 12-point outing against Utah.

Against the Lakers Friday, he tallied 16 points on 13 shots in New York’s 119-112 road victory. It was his best production since a 29-point outburst Nov. 21 against Boston.

In his 19 minutes, he also managed a rebound, an assist and a steal over the Los Angeles sans Lebron James.

His teammate Tim Hardaway, Jr. averaged 19 points a game for New York this past week, shooting his way to 22 points (7-of-18) against the Lakers.
