Hockey players who have spent four years at Michigan have benefited from the extra time in a Wolverines uniform.
On Saturday, the thinned 2016 senior class wrapped up its collegiate career with a 5-2 NCAA regional loss to North Dakota. Afterward, coach Red Berenson spoke highly of the final performances by Justin Selman, Cristoval "Boo" Nieves and Steve Racine.
"Even though they have been good players, we have rarely had a senior that didn't have his best year as a senior, and that's why I encourage seniors to stay," Berenson said. "I think it is really important in your development and your growth and your maturity to fulfill that senior year.
