ANN ARBOR -- Red Berenson will be back behind the bench for Michigan next season.
But he won't have Tyler Motte on the ice.
After breaking through as a junior in 2015-16 -- a part of Michigan's high-scoring "CCM Line" with J.T. Compher and Kyle Connor -- Motte has signed a professional contract with the Chicago Blackhawks, ending his college career.
"I'm excited," Motte said in a statement released by the program. "The timing was right and the opportunity in the near future was tough to pass up. It'll be tough leaving Michigan, especially my teammates, the coaching staff, and friends and family that are close by.
