Michigan football's new offense looks potent when it isn't making life hard on itself

It wasn't pretty at times.

A fumble on the first play of the season. Several pre-snap penalties. A failed fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line.

Michigan football's offense went through some growing pains in Saturday's season-opening 40-21 win over Middle Tennessee State.

But it also showed plenty of growth.

In many ways, the Wolverines' new-look offense under first-year offensive coordinator Josh Gattis was as advertised.
