Jon Runyan Jr., like everyone else, heard Michigan football's offense was going to change in January and wondered what that might look like.

At Alabama, the most recent home of first-year offensive coordinator Josh Gattis, Runyan — U-M's fifth-year senior left tackle — had watched receivers catch quick slants and short pass routes and then, at times, just out-run people into the end zone.

He took stock of what he knew would be back on Michigan's roster and found a few players he thought could pull something like that off.
