Toward the back of U.S. Rep Debbie Dingell's Washington D.C. office sits a room, somewhere between 600 and 800 square feet in size. It houses eight staffers.
It's a bit cramped. Filled with energy. Incredibly busy. Part of the nerve center that helps the Dingell engine churn. By most metrics, it's a standard congressional workspace. With one sizable exception.
One of Dingell's summer interns who works in that back office had to have some unique accommodations when he joined the team in May: His desk had to be placed on risers.
