Michigan football, quarterbacks coach Ben McDaniels expected to part ways

Michigan football is expected to move on from quarterbacks coach Ben McDaniels, the Free Press has learned.

McDaniels' contract is set to expire Sunday.

After serving as an offensive analyst in 2018, McDaniels was elevated to his current role last year.

Under his direction, Michigan's quarterbacks performed inconsistently. With a new offensive system installed under coordinator Josh Gattis in 2019, Shea Patterson regressed. During his senior season, Patterson's completion percentage and quarterback rate dropped from the previous year, then went undrafted.
