In recent years, West Bloomfield football has emerged as a powerhouse high school program.

The Lakers have sent dozen players to college football powers and currently feature running back Donovan Edwards, the state's second-ranked prospect in the 2021 class, along with Dillon Tatum and Michael Williams, two highly recruited players in the 2022 class.

This past recruiting cycle, West Bloomfield had two players sign with Michigan football in four-star safety Makari Paige and three-star linebacker Cornell Wheeler.
