When Dylan McCaffrey arrived, quarterbacks John O’Korn, Wilton Speight, Alex Malzone and Brandon Peters were already on the Michigan football roster. Both Speight and Mazone left the Wolverines program. Opening the door for the backup battle.
McCaffrey earned praise from head coach Jim Harbaugh during last Spring practice saying the quarterback has come far. That is good news. If players get injured and miss a game or two a dependable backup is needed. As they will see playing time weather it be a mop-up game or a spot start.
