According to Sam Webb of GoBlueWolverine.com, former Auburn safety Derrick Moncrief has been granted permission to seek a transfer to the University of Michigan.
This does not mean Moncrief has transferred to Michigan, or that he has been admitted to the school. He is simply now free to discuss the possibility with Michigan coaches as a prospect.
Moncrief is 6-foot-2, 221 pounds and played in 13 of Auburn’s games last season, primarily as a backup. He amassed 27 tackles, providing solid playing time for the 8-5 Tigers. With Will Muschamp coming over from Florida to run the Auburn defense, Moncrief was shifted to linebacker/nickelback.
