Michigan DL coach Greg Scruggs resigns after OWI arrest

New Michigan defensive line coach Greg Scruggs resigned Thursday, five days after being arrested in Ann Arbor for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Wolverines coach Sherrone Moore confirmed in a statement that he had received Scruggs' resignation, adding that he could not comment because the situation is "a university matter."

On March 7, Michigan announced the hiring of Scruggs, who coached defensive line last season at Wisconsin and served as assistant defensive line coach for the New York Jets in 2022. He replaced Mike Elston, one of several Michigan assistants to follow coach Jim Harbaugh to the Los Angeles Chargers.
