Michigan 'D' looks to get aggressive

Ann Arbor — Film review always reveals flaws, and while the general sense after Michigan's season-opening loss last week was that the defense played admirably, the players are demanding improvement.

Perhaps most interesting in the postgame analysis from coach Jim Harbaugh, his defensive players and secondary coach Greg Jackson, was the little focus on technique issues but more the pinpointing of energy and overthinking.

Michigan is preparing this week for its home opener against Oregon State after losing 24-17 at Utah last Thursday night. It was far from a perfect defensive performance, but the Wolverines limited the Utes' top back Devontae Booker to 69 yards rushing and in two sudden-change situations after quarterback Jake Rudock's first two interceptions — the third was returned for a touchdown — the Wolverines emerged not allowing a point.
