Michigan basketball's Juwan Howard releases statement about George Floyd, protests

Over the past few days, numerous college basketball coaches have chosen to speak out about the death of George Floyd.

Juwan Howard became the latest Monday afternoon.

The Michigan basketball coach released a statement from his Twitter account, decrying Floyd, a black man who died while laying face down on a Minneapolis street while a police officer knelt on the back of his neck, and other black men.

"As a country, we must do better," Howard wrote. "As a nation of diverse people, we must stand strong. As a black community, we must rise up and let our voices be heard.
