The Michigan basketball team jumped nine spots to No. 9 in the latest version of the AP Poll, released Monday.
It was the biggest leap in the rankings this week as the Wolverines jumped over Michigan State, which maintained its spot at No. 11.
U-M (5-0) went 3-0 this past week during a swing through the northeast. Michigan pummeled Villanova, the defending national champion that dropped out of the rankings, this past Wednesday, 73-46, before winning the Naismith Tip-Off tournament this past weekend with wins over George Washington and Providence.
The Spartans (3-1) blew out a pair of teams at home last week: 80-59 over Louisiana Monroe on Wednesday and 101-33 over Tennessee Tech on Sunday.
