Michigan basketball's recruiting efforts took another significant blow Tuesday.

Five-star guard Nimari Burnett committed to Texas Tech over the Wolverines, Alabama and Oregon.

Burnett, the No. 22 overall player in the 2020 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, was a coveted target for Juwan Howard.

He was offered by Michigan's previous staff in May shortly before former coach John Beilein left for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and quickly emerged as a priority after Howard's hiring.
