Michigan baseball throws 1-hitter vs. Iowa to advance in Big Ten Tournament

Michigan's baseball team won its Big Ten Tournament opener on Wednesday afternoon in dramatic fashion.

With the bases loaded, first baseman Jesse Franklin hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Wolverines, the No. 3 seed, a 1-0 victory over No. 6 seed Iowa at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska.

Michigan (33-19), which allowed just one hit, advances to face the winner of No. 2 seed Purdue and No. 7 seed Ohio State at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The Hawkeyes opened the scoring in the second inning on a fielding error by Franklin.
