Michigan baseball outfielder's terrible timing could hurt his draft chances

It was just a normal skiing trip at a familiar place.

Jesse Franklin, a Michigan outfielder, had gone down that run hundreds of times.

“I wasn’t trying to do any crazy jump and wasn't going crazy fast,” he said. “I was skiing in Seattle. My family has a cabin 16 miles from a ski resort in Washington.”

It was Jan. 2, during winter break. Franklin crashed and broke his collarbone, which prevented him from starting the baseball season.
