Michigan athletics has uptick in COVID-19 cases, but overall totals remain low

Michigan athletics has seen an uptick in COVID-19 cases.

In the latest round of tests administered to 904 student-athletes, coaches and staff members over the past seven days, the school reported 12 positive results — triple the amount recorded the previous week.

The news comes less than a week after Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh touted his program's success with managing the threat posed by the novel coronavirus, as he campaigned for the reinstatement of football following the Big Ten's Aug. 11 postponement of fall sports.
