Vanderbilt's Philip Clarke started the inning by hitting a ball to shallow right, caught by Brewer on the slide, then Paige struck out Pat DeMarco swinging.
With two outs, Stephen Scott hit a towering ball down the right field line but just foul. Scott would then hit a grounder that got under the glove of first baseman Jimmy Kerr for an error, putting Scott on first.
Harrison Ray ground out to shortstop for the third out.
