Juwan Howard named AP Coach of the Year

Michigan’s impressive basketball season came to an end in the Elite Eight with a last second 61-59 loss to UCLA. However, the accolades didn’t end at the final buzzer of the season.

Michigan head coach Juwan Howard was named the Associated Press Coach of the Year on Thursday. Howard received 35 of 63 votes from a national media panel, Gonzaga’s Mark Few finished second with 16 votes, and Baylor’s Scott Drew and Alabama’s Nate Oats both received five votes.

While Michigan’s season ended in disappointment, the future is bright for the program. Michigan has the No. 1 recruiting class in 2021 and will be looking to make another deep push in the tournament next season.
