Michigan football quarterback J.J. McCarthy was practically perfect in a little less than a half of action in his first career start as the Wolverines rolled over Hawaii, 56-10, in Ann Arbor on Saturday night.
Lightning strikes in the area meant the Big House crowd had to wait an extra hour to see McCarthy make his case for U-M’s starting job, but the fans weren’t disappointed much after the 9 p.m. kickoff. McCarthy completed 11 of 12 passes for 229 yards and three touchdowns, and led three other scoring drives as the Wolverines built a 42-0 halftime lead.
