Jim Brandstatter says goodbye to Michigan football: 'Dark period for the sport' is coming

From 1969-72, he was an offensive lineman on Michigan football's first two Big Ten title teams under coach Bo Schembechler. Since the 1970s, he has become synonymous with sports broadcasting in the state of Michigan, with decades broadcasting U-M football games and the Detroit Lions.

Jim Brandstatter, or “Brandy” to his legion of fans, along with broadcast partner and longtime friend Dan Dierdorf, retired following the end of the Wolverines' football season, with the Orange Bowl/CFP semifinal as their finale. The Free Press got a chance to sit down and chat with the Michigan legend to talk about his career, his favorite moments and what the final season was like.
