Steve Fisher’s coaching legacy will never be tarnished in the eyes of his former Michigan basketball players.
Fisher, who coached the Wolverines in the 1989 national championship and led U-M’s transcendent Fab Five to consecutive title games in the early 1990s, never lost respect from those close to him, despite his firing at Michigan in 1997 following the Ed Martin booster scandal.
On Monday afternoon, Fisher was at the eighth annual Jalen Rose Leadership Academy Golf Classic at the Detroit Golf Club, which marked his first public appearance in the area since taking part in the event in 2012.
