De’Veon Smith is realizing he’s old.
Because he played as a freshman, Michigan’s senior running back feels like he has been around for a long time.
He would just prefer his younger teammates, true freshmen running backs Kareem Walker and Kingston Davis, view that with respect.
“They’re funny guys,” Smith said last week in Bradenton, Fla., where U-M opened spring practice. “Kareem and Kingston joke around with me a lot for some reason. I don’t know why, they think they can pick on me. I had to put my foot down sometimes.”
While Walker and Davis worked with the reserve group during the spring practice week in Florida, Smith has appreciated their desire to improve.
