How much is a U-M Anderson survivor worth? Talks continue in civil suits

Nearly 10 months of closed-door talks between the University of Michigan and the hundreds of victims of former football team doctor Robert Anderson are boiling down to a simple question: How much is a victim worth?

According to a late June report from U-M football historian and best-selling author John U. Bacon, not as much as a Michigan State University female gymnast abused by a team doctor there.

Those currently in the suit, including more than 800 Anderson victims, their lawyers and U-M, all declined to comment on the talks. Bacon reported U-M was offering about $100,000 per survivor.
