Michigan football typically does the bulk of its recruiting during the offseason.

Which is why the shutdown brought by the coronavirus pandemic could hamper the Wolverines' efforts to sign a top 2021 recruiting class.

The COVID-19 outbreak led not only to the cancellation of Michigan's spring practices, but also halted its recruiting efforts. The NCAA has banned all in-person recruiting and placed a dead period on all college sports through at least April 15.
