ORLANDO, Fla. — A year ago, Josh Gattis was readying Alabama's offense and receivers for the College Football Playoff.

On Sunday morning, he walked to the podium at the Rosen Plaza Hotel, flanked by Shea Patterson and Ben Bredeson, in the midst of preparing Michigan football for its next opponent: the Crimson Tide.

For the Wolverines' offensive coordinator, who was hired in the offseason, past and present will collide this week at the Citrus Bowl. One of the more unique aspects of the matchup is Gattis' familiarity with Alabama, as the receivers coach and co-coordinator in 2018, and whether it can give Michigan any advantage on Jan.
