Former U-M receiver Drake Harris announces transfer to Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, MI - Former University of Michigan wide receiver Drake Harris announced Saturday his intentions to transfer to Western Michigan for the 2018 college football season.

As a fifth-year graduate transfer, Harris has one year of immediate eligibility in Kalamazoo.

The 6-foot-4, 188-pound athlete was a blue-chip recruit coming out of Grand Rapids Christian High School and originally committed to Michigan State to pursue football and basketball, but when he posted record-setting numbers (91 catches, 2,016 yards, 23 touchdowns) as a junior, Harris decided his future was on the gridiron.

He signed with Michigan, but injuries hampered Harris' early career, and he was unable to establish himself as a key member of the receiving corps, finishing with nine catches for 60 yards, before switching to defense in 2017.
