Former Michigan hockey player Cooper Marody releases song for late teammate Colby Cave

Cooper Marody of the University of Michigan is a Hobey Baker Award candidate who got his start playing hockey in Brighton. He talks about overcoming rejection, his Brighton roots and his passion for music.

Former Michigan hockey player Cooper Marody put his lips to the microphone in his home studio, strummed his guitar and began singing.

He skates on the ice for the American Hockey League's Bakersfield Condors in the Edmonton Oilers organization but has a double life. He's a music artist and has released three singles.

His most recent song holds a special place in his heart –– a place that belongs to teammate Colby Cave, 25, who died April 11 due to complications from a brain cyst.
