CHICAGO — After a distinguished prep career that led to offers from blue-blood programs and a four-year college journey that took him to two schools more than 300 miles apart, Charles Matthews has returned to where it all began.

Matthews, the former Michigan basketball wing whose college career ended this past spring when he declared early for the NBA draft, is back in his hometown as he prepares for the next step of his career.
