Endings still being written by U-M, MSU; up next, NCAA tournament

WASHINGTON – Michigan point guard Derrick Walton Jr. knelt down on the court in silence.

Michigan had just won the Big Ten tournament championship, its first in 19 years, earning an automatic bid into the NCAA basketball tournament.

The Wolverines earned the No. 7 seed in the Midwest Region and will play No. 10 Oklahoma State at 12:15 p.m. Friday in Indianapolis, about nine hours before No. 9 Michigan State will play No. 8 Miami in Tulsa, Okla.

Almost all of the Wolverines were celebrating, jumping around and screaming, and a massive group of Michigan fans in the Verizon Center were going crazy.
