Elusive Chris Evans is Michigan’s ‘Steph Curry’

Ann Arbor – Freshman running back Chris Evans had a breakout performance in Michigan’s opener with 112 yards and two touchdowns.

UM running backs coach Tyrone Wheatley has been impressed with his new back.

“He’s like my Steph Curry in the room, meaning he can create his own space. He can win one-on-ones,” Wheatley said. “Most surprisingly, I didn’t realize how tough he was between tackles. He’s surprisingly strong. He doesn’t look it but he’s surprisingly strong.

“De’Veon (Smith) makes people miss in breaking tackles. Chris can actually create the separation, and once he creates the separation he has the speed to pull away.
