Ann Arbor — Former longtime Michigan assistant Brian Dutcher was hoping to leave Crisler Center with another lasting memory on Saturday.
The No. 24 Wolverines had other plans.
Sophomore center Hunter Dickinson bounced back from one of the least productive outings of his career with a dominant performance and Michigan turned up the defensive pressure after halftime to spoil Dutcher’s homecoming with a 72-58 win over San Diego State.
Dickinson finished with 23 points and 14 rebounds and freshman forward Caleb Houstan added a season-high 17 points for Michigan (5-3), which held San Diego State to one made basket over a 10-minute stretch in the second half and saw its defense fuel its offense during a pivotal 14-0 run.
