On June 14, Dale Earnhardt Jr. released a Michigan Wolverines-themed car for the Pure Michigan 400 race, which will be held at the end of August. The unveiling was done at Axalta's manufacturing plant in Mt. Clemens, Michigan as General Motors was named Supplier of the Year for the second straight time.
Last year, Jeff Gordon raced in Penn State's blue at white at Pocono and the red and white of Texas A&M at the Texas Motor Speedway in 2014. The newest college-themed car in the Maize and Blue is the third year for the special theme for Axalta.
