Comcast, Big Ten Network in dispute; will it affect in-market viewers?

CHICAGO — If Comcast is your cable provider and you live in a Big Ten market, be warned: you may lose your ability to watch conference games shown on Big Ten Network and Fox Sports 1 in the near future.

That was the message Mark Silverman, president of BTN and Fox Sports, had Tuesday morning at Big Ten media days, as BTN and FS1 are embroiled in a carriage dispute with Comcast.

Earlier this spring, Comcast decided to drop BTN for all non-Big Ten TV markets. Silverman believes that move was the precursor to dropping the network entirely, and said BTN is now facing its “biggest challenge since the launch of the network.
